Polycystic ovary syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome, is a common endocrine disorder which can lead to infertility. Irregular period is one the most common symptoms of this problem. Other symptoms are as:

  • Excess hair on face
  • Acne
  • Hair loss
  • Infertility
  • Risk of endometriosis cancer
  • Risk of diabetes

Statistics shows that, about 45% of women with this problem are obese.

The exact cause of polycystic ovary syndrome is unknown. But early diagnosis and treatment can reduce risks of diabetes and heart diseases.

Polycystic ovary syndrome causes

Hormonal imbalance, overproduction of androgen hormone are main causes of polycystic ovary syndrome. Other causes are:

  • Stress
  • Adrenal gland problems
  • Brain tumors
  • Pelvic and uterine infection
  • Using some drugs such as progesterone
  • Problems such as diabetes and insulin hormone
